“He has a keen interest in worship and mission and, as precentor, he will be looking after our services and music.

“He will also be engaged with chaplaincy at the University of Bradford, having worked for a long time with young people and students. He will bring a diverse set of skills and experience to the Close.

“We look forward to giving him and all his family a good Bradford welcome in the new year.”

The Rev Corley studied theology at Durham University and was a secondary school teacher before becoming ordained.

Most recently he has been the assistant diocesan missioner in the diocese of Blackburn and priest in charge of Ellel, Lancaster.

Mr Corley said: “I’m excited by all the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead; not least the role in the university chaplaincy which, I hope, will do much to nourish and strengthen the links between the cathedral and the university.”
