The incident occured at 8.05am on the A58 just before the University junction and involved a black Fiat, black Mercedes and burgundy BMW.
The east bound carriageway was blocked for a period of time causing delays for commuters.
The ambulance was called but injuries of those involved are not believed to be serious.
