Free concert to herald Olympic torch’s arrival

A live concert will soundtrack the arrival of the Olympic torch in Leeds later this month.

English band Friendly Fires, indie rock trio Little Comets and British four-piece rock band Tribes will perform at the free-ticketed live event at Temple Newsam.

Leeds plays host to a special city celebration along the route on Sunday, June 24 – the same day as neighbouring Huddersfield gets to host the flame.

Doors open at 12.30pm and the show starts at 2.30pm with a finish time of 9pm.

Future Flames are the inspiring young people who have carried the Olympic Flame as the London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay continues its route around the UK.

The idea is to celebrate all the inspirational torchbearers who were given the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity of carrying the Olympic Flame and to reward the contribution that they make to their communities and those around them.
