The victim was taken to hospital with multiple injuries and remains in a critical, but stable, condition.

A 34-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman, who were arrested in connection with the collision, have since been released pending further enquiries.

Police said the vehicle was abandoned in St George's Place, Bradford, and later found burnt out in Hawkshead Drive.

PC Andy Barron, of the Safer Roads and Neighbourhood Support team, said: "A man has been seriously injured and it is vital that we find out the circumstances of this collision and what happened to the vehicle afterwards.

"The vehicle would have sustained serious damage to its front as a result of the collision and we believe that someone will have seen it before it was abandoned in the Little Horton area.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting log 98 of July 9.
