Fresh appeal for crash witnesses

Police yesterday renewed an appeal for witnesses to a head-on crash which left a teenager with a broken leg and facial injuries.

At about 11.10pm on Monday, October 17 a blue Citroen AX was travelling towards Wilsic on the B6094 Cockhill Lane, near Braithwell in Doncaster.

It then collided head-on with a beige Vauxhall Vectra which was being driven in the opposite direction towards Edlington.

A spokesman for South Yorkshire Police said: “The Citroen driver, a 19-year-old man from Doncaster, was taken to Doncaster Royal Infirmary having suffered leg fractures and facial injuries.

“His condition was initially described as life-threatening, although he improved to a serious condition on Tuesday evening.

“The Vauxhall driver, a 54-year-old man from Edlington, was taken to hospital with minor leg injuries but was not kept in overnight.”

Witnesses, including the driver of a lorry which was travelling in front of the Vectra but was not involved in the crash, should call 0114 2202020.

The police spokesman added: “Police would like to trace the lorry driver, as they may be able to assist as a witness.”
