Further arson attack at ski village

FIREFIGHTERS have had to tackle another blaze at Sheffield Ski Village started deliberately.

The fire on Sunday is the latest
to hit the site in Parkwood
Springs.

A spokesman for South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said: “The main building at the complex was hit by a large fire earlier this year, with further small fires following in the days after. The latest incident saw a large area of ski matting and children’s play equipment damaged.

“Fire crews were called at 6.11am on Sunday, and spent over 90 minutes putting the fire out. They believe the fire was started deliberately.”

Millions of pounds worth of damage was caused in April when a fire destroyed the clubhouse, bowling alley and function rooms.

Investigations showed that blaze was not started deliberately, but two subsequent fires are being treated as arson.
