Gala day chance to see Red Devils

A cancer charity hopes to reach dizzying new heights in its fund-raising activities courtesy of national parachute freefall team the Red Devils.

The Yorkshire Cancer Centre Appeal is hosting its second annual family fundraising gala in Roundhay Park in Leeds on May 29 – complete with the parachuting troop's sole performance in West Yorkshire this summer.

One team member in particular who is hoping it can build on the success of the inaugural event last year and draw a huge crowd is Lance Corporal Dom Hines, from Bradford, who has been team rigger for the Red Devils since October 2003, and has performed over 900 jumps.

All proceeds from the day will help boost the appeal's campaign to raise 10m to further clinical research, buy the latest generation of medical equipment, and provide arts and garden projects to enhance the patient environment at the centre at St James's University Hospital in Leeds.

The gala has a number of stalls available from 50 for the day. To book a stall visit www.yorkshirecancercentre.org.uk or call 0113 206 8444.
