Gay couple set to sue B&B owners

A GAY couple plan to sue the owners of a bed and breakfast after claiming they were turned away because of their sexuality.

Michael Black, 62, and partner John Morgan, 56, said the owner of the Swiss B&B in Cookham, Berkshire, told them it was "against her convictions" to let them share a bed in March this year.

They contacted Thames Valley Police, who recorded the alleged incident as a "homophobic incident".

Civil liberties organisation Liberty, which is acting for the couple, from Brampton, Cambridgeshire, said they plan to bring a civil case against the B&B owners.

Legal director, James Welch, said: "This isn't about money for them. Their only motive is in order to prove the point that it is unlawful and should not have happened."

Swiss B&B owner Mike Wilkinson said he and his wife Susanne were simply upholding their Christian beliefs.
