Geoffrey Bould
Born in Leeds and raised in Blackpool, he had joined the Post two years before the outbreak of war but was then recruited to the 7th Armoured Brigade – the Desert Rats – and saw service in North Africa, Burma and Italy.
After demob, he put his writing career on hold and became a civil servant, joining the Ministry of Pensions in Blackpool.

Hide AdBut he returned to journalism in 1982, producing articles and interviews about politics, poetry, religion, and his Yorkshire boyhood.
A Quaker, he went on to co-found and edit a Christian magazine, Interfaith News, which he edited from 1982 to 1989.
His wife, Kathleen, died in 2009, and he is survived by two sons and two grandchildren.
