A KITTEN saved one of his nine lives by meowing for help after being dumped in a bottle bank.

Nine-week-old Archer was left to die among hundreds of glass containers when he was cruelly dumped in an bottle bin in Harrogate.

A passer-by who heard his cries for help called the RSPCA, who arranged for workers at the recycling centre to free the cat.

The black feline was taken in by the RSPCA, where he was named Archer after his alcoholic encounter, before being fostered by a cat-loving couple.

Harrogate’s RSPCA branch manager, Nicola Outhwaite, said: “Thank God he has got such a loud voice for a little thing. It most certainly saved his life.”

New owners Dave Lee said: “Archer is so adorable. He’s so energetic and playful, it’s hard to see how anyone could have done something like this to him.

“He is very vocal. He wakes us up every morning with his loud meowing because he wants feeding. It’s not a surprise that he managed to get someone’s attention while he was stuck in that bottle bank. When he wants something, he lets you know about it!”

The RSPCA in Harrogate is appealing for volunteers willing to adopt or foster cats, or carry out any fundraising work.
