Other lots up for sale in just the first week of the Yorkshire Post charity auction include a tour of the House of Commons with Harrogate and Knaresborough MP Andrew Jones as a guide and a place on Bettys Cookery School course. The tour with Mr Jones, who entered Parliament following election in May and who has been a long-serving Harrogate borough councillor, comes with two first-class tickets on the East Coast Mainline.

Mr Jones said: "Yorkshire folk are well-known for their generosity to charitable causes and I'm pleased to support the Yorkshire Post Communities in Need Christmas appeal.

"The House of Commons retains an air of mystery for most so I'm donating a tour of the House followed by tea on the terrace for two with me. I wish the appeal every success and urge everyone to give generously."

Other presents up for grabs include the chance to be Yorkshire Post Business Editor for the day. You can start bidding from this Saturday at: www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/christmasappeal.

Every week there will then be a host of new exciting lots unveiled.
