Girl, 7, cut from wreckage after Rotherham bus crash

A DRIVER and a seven-year-old girl had to be cut free from a car after it collided head-on with a bus in Rotherham last night.

A yellow Vauxhall Corsa was travelling on Town Lane in Greasbrough shortly before 7.30pm on Sunday, September 18 when it failed to negotiate a bend, went on to the wrong side of the road and hit a single-decker bus.

Firefighters cut the 32-year-old man and the little girl from the Corsa and they were taken to Rotherham Hospital. The driver suffered “serious pelvic, face and leg” injuries and is still recovering in hospital, while the seven-year-old girl suffered minor injuries to her back.

One of the five bus passengesr, a 78-year-old man from Kimberworth Park, also suffered a slight leg injury.

A spokesman for South Yorkshire Police said: “Anyone who witnessed the collision or the manner of driving should call 0114 2202020.”
