Girl, 7, fights for life after Sheffield scooter collision

A SEVEN-year-old girl was fighting for life in South Yorkshire today after she was hit by a car as she crossed a road on her scooter.

The youngster was attempting to cross Shirland Road, Darnall, Sheffield, when she stepped out in front of a parked car into the path of a Vauxhall Astra travelling towards Wilfrid Road.

Police said the injured girl was taken to Sheffield Children’s Hospital with life threatening injuries.

She suffered a serious head injury, broken leg and fractured pelvis.

The Astra driver, a 61-year-old man, was unharmed.

Witnesses to the collision at 5.10pm on Wednesday or anyone who saw the girl or the car beforehand are asked to call South Yorkshire Police on 0114 2202020.
