Glitter travel ban lifted

The foreign travel ban on fallen singer and sex offender Gary Glitter has been lifted, sources say.

The former 1970s glam-rock star, whose real name is Paul Gadd, signed the sex offenders register when he returned to the UK in 2008 after being jailed for child sex offences in Vietnam.

He was previously jailed for four months in the UK in 1999 for downloading child porn. But the Metropolitan Police have decided not to seek to renew the now-expired order which stopped him travelling abroad as they have no grounds to do so, it is understood.

Those on the sex offenders register are required by law to notify police of any plans to travel abroad and police can apply for a foreign travel order if they believe an individual is still a danger to children.
