Go-ahead for road and path repairs

ROAD and footpath resurfacing work will go ahead in Royston, Barnsley, using funding from the Homes and Communities Agency, it has been announced.

The work, in Millgate Street, will follow on from property refurbishment carried out already by Barnsley Council on homes in the area.

The scheme has been made possible using financial assistance through the Green Corridor initiative run by the agency.

That is a joint partnership between Barnsley, Doncaster and Wakefield to improve the area in terms of housing choice and quality of life. It is expected contractors will move in after the New Year, after Henry Boot Construction (UK) completes similar work in Carlton.

No road closures are expected and the contractors will liaise with residents to ensure access to homes is kept to a minimum.
