Golfer celebrates amazing double

A GOLFER who beat odds of 40 million to one to hit two consecutive holes in one on the same hole believes he was helped by the spirit of his dead son.

Morgan Allan, 53, achieved his remarkable double at the 170-yard par three 16th hole at Formby Hall Golf Resort in Southport, Merseyside – with his first coming on the second anniversary of his son’s death.

Mr Allan, a 16-handicapper from Holme-on-Spalding-Moor, East Yorkshire, said when playing he often talks to his son and fellow golfer Daniel, 14, who died in a garage fire with his friend Ryan Steels in May 2008. He added: “For a golfer to achieve a hole-in-one, it’s a major achievement. The second time it happened it was beyond belief, there was a magical element of having my son there.”
