Green light for garden waste recycling trial

From the end of April, 1,500 properties will help test the new waste collection scheme.

The trial will help Calderdale Council and Sita UK establish the amount of green waste being produced by residents and whether the service should be rolled out.

The collections will take place on a fortnightly basis until the end of September.

About 750 households in Hipperholme and 750 in Illingworth will take part.

Calderdale Council’s head of housing and environment, Mark Thompson, said: “The council continues to search for ways to achieve the highest amount of recycling at the lowest cost.”
