Halifax brand dumped north of border

BANK of Scotland is ditching the Halifax tag from its signs north of the border as part of its rebranding.

The traditional Bank of Scotland logo will be retained but the "X" is to be removed from the signs of over 300 branches in Scotland over the next few months.

The Halifax name will continue to be used with the group's other brands in England – Lloyds TSB, Halifax and Cheltenham and Gloucester.

A spokesman said it would not make a difference to how customers use the bank.

Archie Kane, group executive director for Scotland, said: "We are focusing on what the Bank of Scotland has always done best – building strong, trusting relationships with our customers by reasserting our traditional values.

"This is not about re-inventing the Bank of Scotland brand but allowing our customers to re-discover it."
