Hall opens for candlelit Christmas
Today and tomorrow visitors to the museum have a chance to experience what the festive period was like in an 18th century parsonage, with candlelit rooms, log fires and traditional decorations.
And collections officer Elinor Camille-Wood, has been helping to prepare the Christmas candlelit history tour of Shandy Hall that spans 600 years and includes a chance to see a hidden 15th century wall painting which is not normally on display. There will also be a chance to venture into a cellar that has never been open to the public. Shandy Hall is in the village of Coxwold, about 15 miles north of York. Booking for the tour is essential.
