Harrogate harrier wins men’s race at the third attempt

AT THE third time of asking Harrogate’s Jonathan Johnson won the men’s race.

The Harrogate Harrier finished the race in a time of 34 minutes and 54 seconds.

He said of his win: “Its an amazing feeling.”

It was the third time he had entered the race.

In his other two races he had finished in ninth spot on each occasion.

Second in the men’s race was Joseph Kirkup, who finished in 35 minutes and 14 seconds, while third spot went to Matthew Akpan (35 mins and 26 secs).

Chole Ryall, 29, from Leeds, won the women’s race in a time of 40 minutes and 30 seconds. “I am thrilled. I cannot believe it,” she said.

She was running in the Clarion Corporate Challenge with a team of health workers.

Lindsey Clegg, of Yeadon, near Leeds, finished second while Heather Langham took third place with a time of 42 minutes and 10 seconds.
