Harrogate mother was three times over drink drive limit - with children in car

A MOTHER from Harrogate has been banned from driving after being found to be more than three times the legal limit with her two young children in the car.

Sarah Pickering, 32, of Redfearn Mews, Harrogate was stopped on Leadhall Lane in Harrogate on July 3.

Tests showed she was more than three times over the legal drink driving limit.

She pleaded guilty at Harrogate Magistrates’ Court, and in addition to the ban, received a £150 fine and was ordered to pay £85 court costs and £60 victims surcharge.

Traffic Constable David Minto, of the North Yorkshire Police Roads Policing Team said: “Drink driving in itself is a dangerous and potentially lethal thing to do, but to do so with two young children in the car is utterly irresponsible - the consequences could have been catastrophic.

“Luckily officers were there in time to arrest her and prevent anything dreadful from happening to the children or to other road users.”
