Healthy chance of holiday if you change your lifestyle

FAMILIES in the East Riding who would like to adopt healthier lifestyles are being urged to sign up to a health improvement programme that could win them a holiday.

East Riding Council and NHS East Riding are hoping to recruit up to six families to their Change4Life campaign. The offer is open to all groups regardless of their current health and fitness status.

Participants must be committed to making healthier choices, and will need to be contactable throughout February and March and agree to take part in publicity to spread the Change4Life message.

At the end of the challenge a panel of judges will award one family a four-night self-catering holiday in Yorkshire for up to four people.

Dawn Branton, public health lead for nutrition and physical activity, said: "It doesn't matter if you're a family who hasn't exercised or thought about eating healthier before, or if you already have a level of fitness and healthy eating in your life, the scheme is open to families at all levels of fitness.

"We are looking for four to six families who live in the

East Riding to take part in the challenge which will look at your current lifestyle and ask you to make changes that adopt the Change4Life ethos, such as increased activity, five-a-day

fruit and vegetables and much more."

Anyone wanting to take part can find out more by visiting a Change4Life vehicle that will be parked in Saturday Market in Beverley tomorrow.

Families can apply by completing a form stating in no more than 250 words why they should be chosen. The deadline for entries is January 31.

Ms Branton added: "We are looking for families with the most fun and innovative ideas to get fit together and keep fit."

The challenge is part of a

three-month Change4Life campaign that will see a number of initiatives take place in the East Riding.
