Help at hand for legion of carers

People who look after a loved one who is frail, has a disability or is seriously ill, are invited to find out about help available at an open day in Bradford this Friday.

There are an estimated 50,000 carers in Bradford, and Carers’ Resource say many will be unaware of the rights they have under the Care Act, which was implemented earlier in the year.

The drop-in day session, which marks Carers Rights Day, takes place at the organisation’s office Shipley from 10am to 1pm and also includes information on the services and projects available to carers living in Bradford, Airedale, Wharfedale and Craven.

Chris Whiley, Director of Carers’ Resource, said: “It can be a very rewarding role, but it can also be very demanding, overwhelming and isolating. Many can struggle working out who does what, what will help them, and consequently they miss out on financial and practical help.”
