Help identify man killed by train

They want the public’s help to identify a man who was killed after being struck by a train at Sowerby Bridge rail station just after 5.30pm on Thursday, January 5.

A spokesman for British Transport Police (BTP) said: “The incident is being treated as non-suspicious but inquiries so far have been unable to establish the man’s identity.”

The victim is described as being white, 5ft 9in– 5ft 10in, with black, greying collar length hair and a black moustache. He wore black long thermal leggings, khaki denim trousers with blue patches on the pockets and a light blue belt, a green printed t-shirt picturing Fidel Castro, a blue ribbed Harbour Bay jumper, a Cedar State black body warmer under a khaki short padded jacket with a grey detachable hood. He also wore a Manchester United scarf, brown walking boots, a grey knitted woolly hat, and a silver and gold-coloured metal linked chain.

Forensic analysis is ongoing but BTP are keen to hear from anyone who believes they know the man by contacting 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference 409 of 5/1/2012.
