Heritage honour tusted to kids

The National Trust is recruiting a Kids’ Council in Yorkshire to provide advice on how to get more of the nation’s children outdoors.

More than 200 National Trust places across the country will be opened throughout August, free of charge for children, to inspire them on what they would like to change.

The ten successful applicants of children aged between seven and 12 will be announced later in the year, and will also receive free year-long access to National Trust places.

Visitor experience director Tony Berry said: “Our new Kids’ Council will help us make our places the most fun and family-friendly day out destinations in the UK, and let us know what we can do better in the future.”

The application process will close on September 7. Applications can be downloaded from the National Trust website.
