A NEW hospice in West Yorkshire has appointed a director of care and will start welcoming children next month, it confirmed yesterday.

The Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice in Huddersfield is a charity that supports children with life-limiting conditions and their families in the West Yorkshire area.

The hospice, called Russell House, has appointed Vicki Finlay as the director of care. She has a background in children’s nursing.

She said: “As a relatively young charity, my role is now to develop and create a care service that has its family and children at the heart of everything that it does.

“It’s tremendously rewarding helping a family at its most vulnerable time and it’s an immense privilege to be part of this incredible team.”

Hospice chief executive Peter Branson said: “The amazing passion and dedication of Vicki and her team helps to make unbearable situations bearable for children and families and we are thrilled that Vicki has joined us as we continue to grow our care and support.”

Russell House is due to open in December.
