Hospital facelift benefits eye patients

A REFURBISHMENT of the outpatient department at Mexborough's Montagu Hospital has been completed, creating improved facilities forophthalmic patients.

The work has resulted in three new designated ophthalmology rooms, two additional suites for general ophthalmic use, a small treatment room and an overhauled reception area.

Medical director, Dr Robin Bolton, said: "Patients using our ophthalmic services will enjoy a more pleasant experience by being seen and treated in a spacious, modern and bright environment.

"The additional space will also improve clinic and theatre efficiency by allowing consultant ophthalmologists to carry out clinics at Montagu Hospital on the same day as their day surgery."

The aim of the refurbishment was to create additional space for eye patients at Montagu Hospital, thereby relieving pressure on the busy clinics at Doncaster Royal Infirmary.
