Hospitals seek ward feedback from patients

PATIENTS are being asked to rate their hospital ward and say whether they would recommend it to friends and family after one of the region’s biggest health trusts adopted a new national scheme.

Sheffield Teaching Hospitals, which runs the city’s adult hospitals, said the NHS Friends and Family Test was a “way of gathering patient feedback about their experience and helping to drive further improvements”.

A spokesman said: “After the patient has been told they are ready to be discharged they will be given a Friends and Family card and asked a simple question.

“A follow-up question asks why they chose the answer they did, so the Trust can find out more about their experience and understand what their care was like.”
