Hunt for ‘mindless’ graffiti taggers

Vandals have targeted part of a North Yorkshire town, daubing a community centre, fences and gates with graffiti.

Police are investigating after a number of complaints were received from residents in the Granby ward in Harrogate of damage being caused to fences and gates.

The local community centre has also been targeted by vandals, who painted a distinctive tag on the wall reading ‘N.Y.S. North Yorkshire Sketch’.

Police yesterday urged anyone with any information about
those responsible to come forward.

PCSO Mark Emsley, of Harrogate Outer Safer Neighbourhood Team, appealed for help tracking down the culprits.

He added: “This type of mindless vandalism is frustrating for residents as it is unsightly and costs time and money to have it removed.”

Anyone who can help with inquiries is urged to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
