India fines British plane spotters

Two British plane spotters have been fined for illegally monitoring aircraft in India.

Stephen Hampton and Steven Ayres, from Bristol, faced up to 10 years in jail after being arrested over spying claims.

They aroused suspicion after asking hotel staff for a room overlooking a runway at Indira Gandhi International Airport.

The men avoided spying charges, but were charged with a lesser offence and were each fined 362.
