Injured walker airlifted from Malham Cove

A WALKER had to be rescued from the top of Malham Cove yesterday afternoon.

The man, aged 22, had slipped and injured his arm.

The Cave Rescue Organisation (CRO) in the Yorkshire Dales was called to the scene and treated the injured walker before assisting him into a waiting air ambulance a short distance away.

The incident took place at about 2.15pm.

While the rescue workers were at the scene of the incident, a boy aged 10 was brought to one of the CRO vehicles by a local farmer on a quad bike.

The young boy had injured his knee and was treated by a doctor before he was transferred to an ambulance.

The Cave Rescue Organisation, which is based at Clapham, North Yorkshire, is funded entirely by the public and is a registered charity.

It also rescued a 39-year-old caver at Molluscan Hall in the Ease- gill cave system on Christmas Day and attended nearly 100 incidents over the course of 2011.
