Inquest held on ex-vicar in nude film quiz

A RETIRED vicar who was being investigated by police for allegedly filming naked children was found dead at his home, an inquest heard yesterday.

The Scarborough inquest was told letters were found near the body of Maxwell Fargus, 75, of Fir Tree Drive in Filey, on October 4 although none indicated he planned to take his own life.

Det Sgt Robert Henderson told the hearing Mr Fargus was arrested following allegations of him videoing naked children.

Mr Henderson said the retired clergyman admitted taking the film but maintained it was not for sexual gratification.

Coroner Michael Oakley recorded a verdict of natural causes after hearing he died from coronary atheroma.

The coroner emphasised no charges had been brought against Mr Fargus, who was previously vicar of Rudston.
