Inquiry as inmate found hanged

An inquiry was launched after a prisoner was found hanging in his cell yesterday, the Ministry of Justice said.

Craig Moor, 39, was found suspended by a ligature in his cell at HMP Leeds by staff after his cellmate raised the alarm .

A prison service spokesman said: “Staff attempted CPR and an ambulance was called but Mr Moor was pronounced dead at 5.07am by paramedics.”

The Prisons and Probation Ombudsman will now carry out an investigation into his death.

Moor was sentenced to six-and-a-half years in prison for robbery but had only served three weeks.
