Invitation to beauty spot bus service

BUS enthusiasts are urging people to get on board a special service to a remote East Coast beauty spot over the bank holiday weekend.

The Spurn Ranger, the number 73 run by East Yorkshire Motor Services, is the only dedicated bus serving the fragile peninsula of Spurn Point, and can be picked up at any stop on the route from Withernsea.

The seasonal service, launched in 2002, has already proved popular this year, carrying more than 700 passengers since Good Friday.

The community environment officer at the City of Hull and Humber Environment Forum, Adam Fowler, said: “If your looking for something a bit different and an unforgettable experience with dramatic backgrounds, try the Spurn Ranger bus service.”

As well as encouraging visitors to South Holderness, the bus provides a local service to residents in Easington, Skeffling and Welwick who would otherwise have no service at all on Sundays and bank holidays.

It operates four daily return journeys between Withernsea, Patrington and Kilnsea before taking the narrow peninsula to Spurn Point.
