Izzard on the campaign trail

Marathon-running comedian Eddie Izzard hit the campaign trail in Yorkshire yesterday, canvassing voters on behalf of the Labour Party.

The surreal stand-up star met a group of students in Sheffield and a number of Labour candidates in Leeds city centre before heading out to Pudsey and Horsforth to meet members of the public.

Speaking at the Morrisons supermarket in the centre of Horsforth, Mr Izzard praised Gordon Brown, David Cameron and Nick Clegg for their performances at the leaders' debates on Thursday night – but mocked the Tory leader's manner of looking down-camera to address the audience during the debates.

"I felt kind of invaded a bit," Mr Izzard said.
