Judges see in new year

Ten of the Justices of the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom make their way, on foot, from the court in London to Westminster Abbey for the annual service to mark the beginning of the legal year in England and Wales. Last year the then Justice Secretary Jack Straw hailed the new Supreme Court as "public, accessible, visible" as the institution was officially opened by the Queen.

The Law Lords, now styled Justices of the Supreme Court, were joined by their counterparts from across the globe for the opening, with then Prime Minister Gordon Brown also attending.
