Key milestone for £210m Green Port plan

PLANS to place Hull at the centre of the UK’s renewable energy industry will take a major step forward tomorrow when Siemens and Associated British Ports submit joint planning applications for a £210m development on Alexandra Dock.

Subject to council approval, the Green Port Hull venture will assemble and manufacture components for offshore wind turbines and create up to 300 initial construction jobs and 700 highly skilled manufacturing posts.

Siemens called the move a “significant milestone” and said the plant could be operational by 2014.
