Last US combat troops leave Iraq
The last American combat brigade left Iraq yesterday.
A spokesman said the last of an infantry division’s vehicles crossed into Kuwait early yesterday.
America’s combat role in the country ends on August 31.
Most of the brigade’s 4,000 soldiers drove out of Iraq in their armoured vehicles but a few hundred stayed behind until today to finish administrative and logistical duties.
