Leeds team devises heart test

A TEST devised by experts in Yorkshire could revolutionise the way doctors assess the risk of heart attacks.

Specialists from Leeds General Infirmary believe both lives and money could be saved using the approach measuring heart-type fatty acid binding protein (H-FABP) in chest pain patients.

Annually. about 300,000 people in England and Wales suffer heart attacks and about one million have similar symptoms.

The Leeds team make their comments in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology.
