Lennon fans mark 30th anniversary of death

FANS of former Beatle John Lennon gathered yesterday to pay their respects on the 30th anniversary of his death.

Many, including Robin Grinholz, were drawn to the memorial in Central Park, New York, close to where he was gunned down. A vigil was also held last night in his home city of Liverpool.

In his final interview three days before his death, published in full for the first time by Rolling Stone magazine, he complained about his critics –saying they were only interested in "dead heroes". He also talked optimistically about his future, musing that he had "plenty of time" to accomplish some of his life goals.
