Less weight means more pounds for top slimmers

DIET and exercise guru Rosemary Conley yesterday dished out awards to slimmers, including a woman who shed 142 stone to go from dress size 34 to 10.

This triumph saw Bridie Coulter, 47, from Northern Ireland, scoop one of eight slimmer of the year 2010 awards.

The winners, who shed a total of 77 stone between them, each received 1,000.

Couple Maria and Toby Webber from the Isle of Wight, were named Mr and Mrs Slimmer of the year. Maria, 42, tipped the scales at 18st 13lb while Toby, 38, weighed 21st 2lb until their GP warned them they were risking their lives. Together, they shed more than 18 stone.

Ross Hatfield, 31, from Nottingham, was named male slimmer of the year for getting into shape after failing a fitness test to serve with the Territorial Army in Afghanistan in 2008. He cut out junk food and his 16-pint drinking sessions to lose 7st 9lb.
