Lighting up Christmas

CHRISTMAS has well and truly arrived at this North Yorkshire bungalow – just don't mention the electricity bills.

Eric Marshall has set up this winter wonderland in Main Street in Bagby, near Thirsk, to raise 500 for the village church.

It took the 71-year-old three weeks to set up the festive display which features a dizzying array of santas, sleighs and snowmen, as well as a model train track running all the way around the garden, carrying a variety of polar expresses including the Flying Scotsman and Thomas the Tank Engine locomotives. Mr Marshall has been building these displays in his garden for the past 15 years and earlier this year he clinched the speciality garden prize in the Harrogate Flower Show.
