Lonely meerkat finds family life simples

A lonely meerkat who struggled to find a mate has gone from singleton to supermum, giving birth to quadruplets.

Staff at Twinlakes Park in Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire, set up lonely heart's website meerkatmatch.com for three-year-old Lily in April, attracting worldwide attention, after failing to find her a mate. Park bosses were contacted by the breeder of a two-year-old male from Cambridge, named Mr Darcy by staff, who hit it off with Lilly immediately.

And yesterday they said they were delighted to hear the pitter patter of tiny paws on July 11, with quadruplets named Eeny, Meeny, Miney and Stumpy-Mo.

Emma Roe, office manager and "meerkat match-maker" said: "We are thrilled that Lilly has found love and now has a family; it's been a long emotional journey."
