Specialist officers were continuing to work at the scene this lunchtime, with the operation now scaled back to two crews and an aerial platform, a fire service spokesperson added.

The Environment Agency has confirmed that the smoke from the fire is not of concern to the public, but the fire service has recommended that residents and businesses in the area continue to keep windows and doors closed.

Road closures are still in place around Stockholm Road and Copenhagen Road.

Earlier, Hull Council evacuated its Stockholm Road depot.

Waste collection, highways and passenger transport services will continue, however as Stockholm Road is currently closed there may be a disruption, a Council spokesperson said.
