Man, 20, charged with murder of nine-year-old brother

THE brother of a nine-year-old boy who was fatally stabbed at a house in Bradford has been charged with his murder.

Jack Taylor suffered multiple stab wounds in an incident at a house in Rookes Avenue, in the Wibsey area of the city, on Thursday evening.

The youngster's sister Rachel, 18, was also injured, suffering a stab wound to her arm.

Their brother Daniel, 20, was tonight charged on suspicion of murder and wounding with intent and will appear before Bradford Magistrates on Saturday.

Neighbours of the family described Jack, also known as Jackson, as a "normal little lad" and described their shock at news of the tragedy.

Trevor Bairstow, whose 10-year-old granddaughter Leah went to school with him, said he was horrified.

"He was normal little lad. I used to see him playing out and about.

"He never bothered us. What can you say? He's a nine-year-old boy who's been stabbed. It's shocking."

Police said the boy was taken to Bradford Royal Infirmary by ambulance but died from his injuries shortly after 8pm.

His 18-year-old sister was also taken to hospital with a stab wound but her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. Her parents and sister with at her side today.

Police said a post-mortem examination showed the schoolboy died as a result of multiple stab wounds.
