Man, 38, held after spate of burglaries

The offences were committed towards the end of September and the beginning of this month. The majority of the properties were unoccupied.

The 38-year-old suspect was arrested in Nottinghamshire earlier this week by Nottinghamshire Police in connection with offences there. He is currently in their custody and will eventually be questioned by North Yorkshire detectives in relation to the Filey burglaries.

Sgt Tracy Smith, of North Yorkshire Police, said: “These incidents have caused alarm for the residents of Filey and I hope this latest development gives them an amount of reassurance.

“Anyone who has any concerns about safety and security should not hesitate to contact their local safer neighbourhood team on 101, call in to the local station or drop into one of our surgeries.”
