Man assaulted in hotel reception

Police are attempting to trace three key witnesses to an alleged assault at the Portland Hotel in Hull at the weekend.

An 18-year-old man was allegedly attacked by another man in the reception at the hotel, in Paragon Street, just before 9.30pm on Sunday.

The victim suffered bruises and pain to his ribs, bruising and grazing to his left eye, a head injury and swelling and bruising to his right forearm and needed treatment at Hull Royal Infirmary.

A 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault and released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Police would urgently like to speak to two adults and a child who witnessed the alleged assault through the big glass window in the reception area, before flagging down a passing police patrol.
