Man dies after embankment crash

The van driver, from the Bentley area of Doncaster, South Yorkshire, died at the scene of the accident around half a mile from junction 45 of the A1, at Clifford.

West Yorkshire Police said the man was driving a Mazda pick-up van and was travelling north when he lost control of the vehicle, left the road and went down an embankment.

A police spokesman said he was the only person in the van and no other vehicles were involved in the collision.
