Man is flung on to road as burglars drive off in his car

POLICE in Leeds are appealing for information after a 41-year-old local man was seriously injured after he was dragged and then flung from a family car that thieves stole during a burglary.

The incident occurred around 2.50am in the early hours of yesterday morning at an address on Red Hall View in North East Leeds.

As three thieves attempted to escape in the family's blue Mercedes C180 four-door saloon car the man grabbed onto the vehicle and was carried a short distance into Whinmoor Crescent where he was found with serious injuries.

He was taken to Leeds General Infirmary where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

The three male suspects are thought to be aged in their mid teens to early twenties. The driver of the vehicle was said to have light brown hair and the front seat passenger was described as having blonde hair.

Police are asking anyone who may have seen the Mercedes vehicle (KR05 TGY) being driven in the early hours of yesterday morning to get in touch.

Detective Inspector Paul Conroy from North East Leeds CID said: "This was an extremely serious and unusual incident that has left a local man with a number of significant injuries.

"The callous nature of these individuals, who left a man seriously injured in the side of the road, means they need to be arrested and brought before the courts as a matter of urgency.

"At that time in the morning the roads were extremely quiet and I would appeal for anyone who may have seen this vehicle to get in touch."

Anyone with information is asked to contact DC Patterson at Killingbeck CID via: 0845 60 60 606 or call Crimestoppers anonymously and in confidence on: 0800 555 111.
