Man held for attempted murder after daylight stabbing in Bradford

A MAN was being questioned today on suspicion of attempted murder after a stabbing left another man seriously ill in a Bradford hospital.

The victim, a 29-year-old Latvian man, suffered a stab wound to the chest in the attack in Manningham, Bradford, on Saturday afternoon.

A 35-year-old suspect, also Latvian, has been arrested, West Yorkshire Police said.

Detectives would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident, which happened at around 2.30pm in park land known as Infirmary Fields at the junction of Lumb Lane and White Abbey Road in Manningham, Bradford.

The victim is currently being treated in Bradford Royal Infirmary and is described as being in a critical condition in intensive care.

Detective Superintendent Steve Payne, who is leading the investigation, said: "This incident took place at a busy time of the afternoon in Bradford and we believe a number of people may have been nearby and witnessed either the attack, or have seen someone running from the scene.

"Anyone who saw what happened or has information should contact The Homicide and Major Enquiries Team on 0845 60 60 606 in relation to this case."
